Currently, Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emission reductions trade anywhere from $2 ~ $35 per metric ton. The price varies depending on the country they are traded in, the type of taxes or incentives available, local cost to achieve emissions reductions, volume and contract length of Emission Reduction Credits (ERC's) delivered etc.

ERC's from RE systems often include, CH4 (Methane), N2O (Nitrous Oxide), and other gases. For the purpose of this calculator we are only using CO2. For more info on how to calculate GHG's, please follow this link.

Use this calculator to get a sense of your system ERC revenue potential. In this illustration, 1 kWh is equal to 1 kg of CO2, other gases are ignored, and you select per ton values. Actual emission rates will vary per local power pool, and per ton value will be determined by supply and demand at time of sale.
